Parking in Long Branch to make wallets slimmer

LONG BRANCH - Parking spots in Long Branch will soon come at a price.

Pay stations are being installed similar to those in Asbury Park. It'll cost $1.00 an hour on weekdays, $2.00 an hour on weekends.

The meters could be installed as early as next week as part of the 90-day experimental program. The cash-strapped city wants to see how much money the meters could rake in.

Those who don't pay the meter are subject to a $50 fine. Just like the machines in Asbury Park, the ones in Long Branch will also accept coins and credit cards.
