RIDGEFIELD - The pastor of St. Matthew's Church in Ridgefield signed a deal with T-Mobile to put a cell phone tower in its steeple, but parishioners and residents are coming out against the plan. The tower would not be visible since it is inside the steeple and T-Mobile agreed to pay the church $2,000 a month in rent to use the facilities.

Those against the steeple say they are concerned about radiation and the possibility it could cause cancer. Others say it will lower property values. Since hearing the complaints from the community, the pastor has tried to back out of the deal, but T-Mobile refused and sued. The case will be heard in court next week.
