MANALAPAN - Parents in Manalapan are being warned about an attempted luring that happened in town over the weekend.

Manalapan Police Chief Christopher Marsala says three boys, ages 10 to 13, were approached Sunday by a man near Lamb Lane. The man asked the boys to help him find his missing cat.

The boys became suspicious and ran from the area.

The man has been described as white with brown shoulder-length hair with some gray in it. He also had a mustache and bags under his eyes. He appeared to be in his late 50s.

He was seen driving a silver sedan with four doors. The car had New Jersey license plates.

Chief Marsala says there will be extra police officers patrolling the town.

A similar incident happened in Jackson one day earlier. Chief Marsala says the description of the suspect and the car are the same. In that incident, the man asked for help looking for a dog.

Parents are being urged to talk to their children about "stranger danger" and to report anything suspicious to the police.
