EDISON - More and more children are starting the new school year at home. News 12 New Jersey spoke with a family who has taken on the challenge of home schooling.

The Albanese family began home schooling their boys five years ago so they could tailor an education to each child.

For many parents home schooling isn't just an education. It's about a moral foundation they feel only they can provide.

"Our focus is more on the spiritual development of our children. To make sure they know who they are in Christ and that they stay close to him their whole life because we feel that's their primary focus in life to fulfill the vocation he's called them to do," said Lynn Albanese.

The family chose the Catholic Heritage curriculum. Each boy studies the core courses, and the oldest boy gets an advanced math tutor twice a week.

In New Jersey, parents don't have to report or have their curriculum approved.
