Paramus World War II pilot awarded Congressional Gold Medal

A World War II pilot from Bergen County received a special honor Tuesday.

PARAMUS - A World War II pilot from Bergen County received a special honor Tuesday.

Milton Schucard, 93, was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal at the CareOne at the Cupola facility in Paramus.

Schucard was part of the Civil Air Patrol.  In addition to flying planes, he also fixed them and worked on experimental aircraft.

The Civil Air Patrol is the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

The Congressional Gold Medal is one of the highest awards a civilian can earn.
