Paramus police officer released from HUMC

HACKENSACK - Paramus Police Officer Rachel Morgan was released from Hackensack University Medical Center today.

Police say Morgan was shot five times by suspect Michael Carmody during a chase on Route 17 earlier this month. Two bullets hit her below her bullet proof vest.

Security was tight as the 31-year-old was put into an ambulance outside the hospital. She was surrounded by dozens of her colleagues as bagpipers played "Amazing Grace."

Acting Paramus Police Chief Chris Brock told reporters that Morgan will undergo physical therapy and says she's determined to make a full recovery.
