NEPTUNE - Two Rottweiler dogs died yesterday from heat exhaustion after their owner left them in a pickup truck for more than an hour in the heat.

Monmouth County SPCA officials say the two dogs, Maximus and Joey, were left outside of MJ?s Pizza Bar and Grill in Neptune. Their owner, Charles Loguidice, of Freehold, was inside the restaurant.

Temperatures outside were nearing 90 degrees. Officials estimate that inside the truck, temperatures exceeded 100 degrees.

The dogs were found dead just after 5 p.m.
