PATERSON - A Paterson woman is facing animal cruelty charges after her emaciated puppy was removed from her home by animal control officers.
Laquana Moore is charged with two counts of animal cruelty. She could face a $1,000 fine or up to six months in jail on each count if convicted.
Animal control officers went to Moore’s Paterson home last week after receiving calls from neighbors about a dog that was left outside and alone. When they found the puppy, they say that he was extremely malnourished and was suffering from skin infections.
The 5-month-old pit bull, named Pax by his rescuers, was taken to Oradell Animal Hospital for treatment. He is now being cared for at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge and is expected to fully recover.
A GoFundMe page was set up to raise funds to help care for Pax.
