PASSAIC - Over a dozen families have been forced to find a new place to live following yesterday's fire in their apartment building that left them homeless.

The fire broke out Friday afternoon at a building at 88 Washington Place and continued to smolder well into today.

Investigators say the fire started in a first-floor apartment in the back of the building and spread from there. They say that while the exact cause of the fire has not been determined, they believe the blaze to be accidental.

Families who lost everything say that they have nothing and are only getting by with assistance from the city and from the Red Cross.

"My pocket book is what I'm left with and that's what I have now," said fire victim Tahiyyah Greene.
