ASBURY PARK - A popular restaurant in Asbury Park is now closed.

Old Man Rafferty's, on Cookman Avenue, served its last meals Wednesday. The restaurant that helped launch redevelopment in the area was sold to the owners of The House Bar and Grill in Point Pleasant.

A sign is present in the window, thanking customers for their loyalty.

The owner says a factor that led to the sale was that his menu, which geared toward families, was having trouble fitting in with the young, hip crowd.

The sign on the door also says that unused gift certificates from the restaurant will be honored at its other locations in Hillsborough and New Brunswick, or a refund can be issued.
