OLD BRIDGE - It's been more than two years since Alka Sinha watched in horror as her two sons and husband were brutally beaten by a group of teens in their Old Bridge neighborhood.
Her husband, Dr. Divyendu Sinha, died a few days after the attack.
In her exclusive, first on-camera interview only on News 12 New Jersey, Sinha says it's taking too long for justice to be served.
Steven Contreras, the getaway driver, recently accepted a plea deal and will face only four years in prison for the attacks.
The other four defendants accused in the beating remain out on bail awaiting trial.
Friends and family of the Sinha's have started an online petition demanding action from Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan. Sinha hopes the petition will help her close this tragic chapter in her family's lives.
The Sinha family is also asking Kaplan to ensure that Contreras gets the full four-year sentence.
In a statement, Kaplan says his office is prepared to bring the remaining four defendants to trial and have requested an expedited trial date.
So far, no date has been set.
