PATERSON - Between Tropical Storm Irene and record rainfall this summer, New Jersey's pumpkin crop leaves something to be desired.
Ohio farmer Greg Clement says when he heard about this year's Great Pumpkin Blight, he knew he had to act. Along with his family and a few farm hands, he loaded up a truck with a few thousand pumpkins. They then drove nine hours through the night to deliver them to the Boys and Girls Club of Paterson, Clement says.
Beckwith Park in Paterson was turned into a sea of orange this afternoon as hundreds of kids were treated to free pumpkins, courtesy of Greg Clement.
The pumpkins that are left over will be brought to the Cit-green HarvestFest in Paterson tomorrow.
