Officials: Man arrested in murder of grandmother, father

MAPLEWOOD - The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has announced that a man has been arrested in the deaths of his grandmother and father.

Dwayne Flourney, 26, of Maplewood, is charged in the murders of Sandra Flourney, 76, and Brian Flourney, 52.

Authorities say the bodies were discovered at around 3 p.m. in a home on Northview Terrace in Maplewood.

Prosecutors say that the preliminary investigation indicates that Dwayne Flourney stabbed his grandmother on Saturday afternoon and stuffed her body into the trunk of a car in the garage. When his father returned home, investigators say he stabbed him and hid his body as well.

Authorities say the grandson then hid the bodies and had a party at the house.

Investigators haven't given any insight into the suspect's mental state at the time of the alleged crimes. 2 found dead in Maplewood, deaths deemed 'suspicious'
