BRADLEY BEACH - Animal control officials are sorting though a massive animal hoard house in Bradley Beach that they say contained 36 dead cats.

The house on La Reine Avenue also had piles of feces up to 1 foot high and trash strewn everywhere, according to investigators.

Officials are calling the homeowner, 65-year-old Lorraine Smith, a hoarder.

Police have charged Smith with 36 counts of failure to provide shelter, a form of animal cruelty. Smith has also been issued a summons by the city for failing to maintain her property.
