NEWARK - Newark Mayor Cory Booker was joined by county and federal officials today to announce the arrests of three groups in connection to the surge of carjackings across Essex County last month. Officials say the arrests were made possible due to a task force made up of the FBI, Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. The unit puts at least 20 officers on the street every night and uses helicopter surveillance. Police say there were more than 70 carjackings reported in the month of December.
