Firefighters douse hot spots after an early morning fire tore through the Mariners Cove Motor Inn in Point Pleasant Beach.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH - Four people are pronounced dead after a fire at the Mariner's Cove Motor Inn in Point Pleasant Beach.

The victims who were killed in the fire were all adult males, according to police. Their identities have not yet been released.

Eight other people, including a firefighter, were injured in the fire, which broke out at around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Some motel guests are victims of Superstorm Sandy who were living there after being displaced by the storm.

Authorities say about 40 people were living in the motel.

The South Jersey Red Cross is on the scene to assist some of the victims of the fire.

Officials are expected to continue their investigation to determine the cause of the fire through the weekend.
