LAWRENCE - Three people are dead, including two children, after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Route 1 yesterday evening, and now the driver of the rig is facing charges.

The accident happened at around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Brunswick Pike and Darrah Lane. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office says a Chevy Tahoe that carried a family crashed into a tractor-trailer that was apparently making an illegal U-turn.

Exclusive surveillance video obtained by News 12 shows the tractor-trailer slowing down as it enters the intersection and begin to make what looks like an illegal U-turn when the SUV comes into view.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Jamella Tisdale was killed, along with 9-year-old Jaevon Durante and Jaden Tisdale, who was 3 months old.

The driver of the SUV, Shaqwan Tisdale, 25, of Levittown, Pa., and another child, 8-year-old Mellady Durante, remain hospitalized in stable condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified as 45-year-old Richard Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y. He is charged with three counts of death by auto, and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
