Officials: 2 shot in Trenton while gathered at homicide memorial for Charles White, killed Saturday

TRENTON - Gunfire erupted at a memorial for a homicide victim who was shot and killed in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard early Saturday morning.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office says two people were hit around 4 p.m. Sunday. They say shots were fired into a group of about 20 people gathered at a memorial for 43-year-old Charles White, of Trenton, who was identified as the victim in the Saturday night shooting.

One of the victims was treated at the hospital and released. The other victim suffered multiple wounds, including one to the head.

There were no arrests in Saturday’s shooting. No suspects have been identified in Sunday’s shooting. 

Trenton police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are investigating the incidents. The city's new mayor George Muschal says he wants more police officers added to the force.
