NEWARK - (AP) - Essex County authorities say two people were killed when their car crashed in Newark early Saturday, shortly after state police had ended a high-speed pursuit of their vehicle.

Twenty-four-year-old Zafir Abdul Rahman of East Orange and apassenger - who has not been identified - were both pronounced deadat the scene. Prosecutors say their vehicle collided with anothercar around 2 a.m., then struck three other parked cars and burstinto flames before flipping over.

State police had been chasing the vehicle on the northboundGarden State Parkway prior to the crash, but the pursuit had endedshortly after the vehicle left the highway and went into aresidential area.

The driver of the other car involved in the crash was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
