PASSAIC - Officials say children were being cared for by an unlicensed day care at 215 Spring St. in Passaic.

Inspectors from the Division of Youth and Family Services cited Leonard and Avigail Adam after discovering the children in various rooms in the house.

Cops say the day care was discovered when a neighbor found a 2-year-old girl wandering alone in the middle of Marietta Avenue, three doors away from the home.

Police were called, but the neighbor says it was 15 minutes before the child's mother, who allegedly runs the day care, came for the lost 2-year-old.

The housing department did not find any code violations.
