NEWARK - Some police officers in Newark and Irvington will be getting their jobs back.

In March, 31 officers were laid off in Irvington, which was nearly a third of its police force. The state is now letting Irvington restructure some of its debt load, and the police chief says the laid off officers can return to work Monday.

Newark is also moving forward on a deal to bring back about 50 of the 167 officers who were laid off this past December. The city has obtained the money it needed through grants, furloughs and through concessions by the police union over salaries, pensions and health benefits.
