NWS confirms tornado in New Jersey

TRENTON - The National Weather Service confirmed today that a small tornado passed through Southern New Jersey Thursday night.

The agency said that the tornado passed through a portion of Plumstead Township in Ocean County, about 15 miles southeast of Trenton.

According to the service, wind speeds reached 90 mph during the five-minute storm. Numerous trees were knocked down, but no injuries were reported.
