EDISON - A special group of postal employees was honored at a special event Wednesday for their decades of service.

There were 28 employees from throughout northern New Jersey who celebrated 45 or more years of service.

They were each given an award with an engraved plaque, and an original set of 8 cent postage stamps from 1973.

Most of the workers say they wouldn't have it any other way. "I couldn't retire, I would go crazy," says mail carrier David Stellingwerf. "It keeps me healthy. I enjoy it. I've been on the same route for 45 years."

The carrier with the most years of service was Robert Heberling, who has worked for the postal service for 55 years.
