No verdict yet in Contreras murder trial

NEW BRUNSWICK - No verdict has been reached yet in the murder trial of Steven Contreras, a suspect in the 2010 slaying of Divyendu Sinha in Old Bridge.

The jurors entered the deliberation room for the second day on Thursday with a 10-count verdict sheet that included charges of conspiracy, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, riot and hindering apprehension.

Contreras, 19, is the first of five defendants standing trial for the murder of Sinha, who was fatally beaten while taking a late-night walk with his family.
