No sight of missing person in Millburn pond

Emergency crews are leaving a pond at the South Mountain Reservation after an all-evening search for a person who may have fallen through the ice

MILLBURN - Emergency crews are leaving a pond at the South Mountain Reservation after an all-evening search for a person who may have fallen through the ice turned up nothing.

A driver called 911 late this afternoon after he thought he saw a man fall through the ice on the pond while walking his dog on the surface.

Despite no other 911 calls and no missing person reports being filed, emergency crews still searched the pond all evening, with one police officer saying it's better to be safe than sorry.

Crews left the pond late Saturday evening after their search turned up nothing.
