ELIZABETH - (AP) - A New Jersey Turnpike spokesman says all lanes have reopened following a multivehicle crash that killed oneperson and shut down southbound lanes of the turnpike's outerroadway near Newark Liberty International Airport for more than sixhours.
Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando says it may takeseveral hours longer for traffic to return to normal. He says thecrash backed up traffic for about 12 miles.
The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday just south ofInterchange 13A.
Two tractor-trailers, a dump truck, a box truck, a pickup truckand three cars were involved. Orlando said the driver of the pickuptruck was killed. The victim's name has not been released.
State police are investigating.
