NJ Transit train hits, kills person in Short Hills

SHORT HILLS - (AP) - Trains on the Morris & Essex Line areback on schedule after an NJ Transit train struck and killed awoman on the tracks at Short Hills station.

NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett says Train 6600 hadleft Dover station at 4:30 a.m. with about 70 passengers aboardwhen it struck the woman around 5 a.m.

The passengers were transferred to another train.

There were delays of up to an hour between Dover and Hoboken andDover and New York's Penn Station until 8:45 a.m. The death remains under investigation.
