SECAUCUS - New Jersey Transit officials say they are ready for the Super Bowl, and have put plans in place for snow or cold weather.

Spokesperson John Durso says the agency has made plans to deal with weather-hindering trains or if cold temperatures snap train lines or cause damage to the tracks.

A few weeks ago, an overhead live wire snapped, stranding 1,000 passengers on an NJ Transit train. Durson says those situations are what they plan for.

"As part of our contingency plan we're inspecting switches," Durso says. "We're employing rescue locomotives in key positions if a train were to break down, we have technical crews in key locations if a wire were to come down. We want to respond quickly for the safety and convenience of our customers."

Durso says recent troubles with NJ Transit's website were also addressed and staff are dedicated to making sure it runs in the week leading up to the game.

While security will be a major priority, Durso emphasizes that extra staff will be on hand at many stations to help people navigate their way to MetLife Stadium.

At Secaucus Junction Station, where trains will run directly to MetLife Stadium, the platforms have been extended and longer rail cars will be running on game day to accommodate the volume of passengers.
