CRANFORD - Some New Jersey Transit bus passengers are still shaking their heads at what happened during their morning commute Thursday.

NJ Transit is looking into why an express bus driver apparently took the scenic route into New York, making passengers nearly two hours late.

NJ Transit's No. 113 Express was due at the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 7:39 a.m. Thursday. It didn't get there until 9:22 a.m.

Passengers say the driver missed several turns. One passenger who identified himself as "Kirk", says tension grew as the passengers got angry.

"People were getting up to the front of the bus...telling her to let them off or else," Kirk says. "People were dialing the police department."

NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder says the incident involved a veteran bus driver and the investigation will examine all parts of the trip and appropriate action will be taken. The agency is reaching out to passengers to apologize.
