NJ Transit, PATH systems begin to shut down ahead of Sandy

TRENTON - New Jersey Transit and PATH service are beginning to shut down ahead of Sandy.

NJ Transit implemented a gradual systemwide shutdown of all bus, rail, light rail and Access Link service starting at 4 p.m. Sunday and continue through 2 a.m. Monday. The Atlantic City Rail Line also suspended operations at 4 p.m. Sunday, due to the weather conditions and the continued evacuation of Atlantic City.

PATH officials say commuter train service will shut down at 12:01 a.m. Monday. It will be shut down until further notice.

Sandy is heading north from the Caribbean and expected to meet a winter storm and cold front when it makes landfall on the East Coast.
