NEWARK - New Jersey Transit is adjusting some late-night rail service in the wake of September's service cutbacks.
The 12:56 a.m. Morris & Essex lines train out of New York City and the 11:30 p.m. train from Dover to Hoboken will operate under a new schedule that takes effect on Sunday.
NJ Transit says it regularly adjusts its schedules to maximize efficiencies.
The schedule changes were part of a package that included raising NJ Transit fares by about 9 percent for bus and rail riders on Oct. 1.
NJ Transit officials said the increases were needed to close a $60 million budget gap that remained even after the agency cut $40 million.
