TRENTON - Dozens of high school students from around the state gathered in Trenton today to kick off the 15th annual New Jersey FIRST robotics competition.

The students were tasked with designing a remote-controlled robot that has specific features. It must be able to pick up a tube that is any shape and place it on a rack in three different positions.

The 60 teams participating this year are vying for a shot at the 2011 robotics championship in St. Louis.
