NJ Senate, Assembly to decide leadership posts

(AP) - Democrats in the New Jersey state Senateand Assembly are deciding who will lead them for the next twoyears.Both houses have scheduled private meetings

TRENTON - (AP) - Democrats in the New Jersey state Senateand Assembly are deciding who will lead them for the next twoyears.

Both houses have scheduled private meetings Thursday at theStatehouse.

Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker SheilaOliver are both expected to retain their posts. But majorityleadership positions in both houses are reportedly changing.

Sen. Loretta Weinberg of Bergen County is a likely successor toSen. Barbara Buono of Middlesex County. Weinberg ran unsuccessfullyfor lieutenant governor with Gov. Jon Corzine in 2009.

Assemblyman Lou Greenwald of Camden County has been tapped asmajority leader in the lower house. He replaces Joe Cryan of Union,who has sparred frequently with Gov. Chris Christie.

Leadership posts require a majority 21 votes in the Senate and41 in the Assembly.
