ASBURY PARK - New Jersey's fourth state-sponsored gun buyback program netted nearly 1,600 firearms, according to the state Attorney General's Office.

The guns-for-cash program in Monmouth County collected weapons at two locations in Asbury Park and Keansburg.

Weapons were exchanged for up to $250 under the no-questions-asked program. It was funded through state and county forfeiture funds.

Officials have netted more than 7,000 weapons in gun buyback programs since December.

A fifth gun buyback is scheduled for Atlantic County on March 22 and 23.
