NJ's 1st legal medical pot dispensary delayed

The opening date for the first state-authorized medical marijuana dispensary has been delayed because it hasn't yet gotten a final certificate of occupancy from Montclair

MONTCLAIR - The opening date for the first state-authorized medical marijuana dispensary has been delayed because it hasn't yet gotten a final certificate of occupancy from Montclair Township.

Officials now say the Greenleaf Alternative Treatment Center will not be opening for several more weeks.

State health officials say they'll work with the center so a final state permit can be issued as soon as the local permit is given.

New Jersey passed a law allowing medical marijuana in January 2010, but no dispensaries have opened yet. So far, 170 physicians and 239 patients have registered to take part in the program.
