SAYREVILLE - Environmentalists are calling the cancellation of a new road in Sayreville to bypass Main Street a victory.

However, some local residents aren't happy about the decision. Supporters of the road say traffic on Main Street has gotten so heavy that another road is necessary.

Councilman David Kaiserman (R- Sayreville) says even though he opposes the construction of a new road, the town is likely to appeal the ruling.

News 12 New Jersey called the mayor of Sayreville about the future of the bypass, but did not hear back.
