WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - (AP) - New Jersey's acting educationcommissioner has ordered a review of all school superintendentcontracts in the state.
Monday's order comes on the heels of a controversy over acontract extension granted to the superintendent of theParsippany-Troy Hills schools by the local school board ahead of acap on superintendents' pay to take effect in February. Theextension would have boosted LeRoy Seitz's pay well above the newlimit.
Gov. Chris Christie, who has called the Seitz contract anexample of "greed," told a town hall meeting Monday that theMorris County executive schools superintendent was nixing Seitz'sdeal.
Later Monday, acting Commissioner of Education RochelleHendricks announced the statewide contract review and a freeze oncontract extensions.
