EDISON - Superstorm Sandy victims who rely on the state's food stamp program may be eligible for additional aid.

Participants in the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP, will be getting a 25 percent increase in their food allowance.

The benefits card may also be used to purchase hot and cold prepared meals from participating stories, under a temporary exception to the rules of the program.

Participants do not need to contact their county welfare agencies to receive the benefit.
