EDISON - Soon it could be illegal for minors to take a dip in the hotel hot tub.

The state's Senate Health Committee today passed a bill making it illegal for anyone under age 17 to use a hot tub in a commercial place, including health clubs, hotels, and resorts.

Lawmakers cite concern for the safety of children as the reason for the potential ban.

The bill now goes on to the full Senate for a vote.
