OLD BRIDGE - State lawmakers are proposing a group of bills that would tighten regulations on buses leased by New Jersey Transit.

According to a Daily Record report, Republican State Sen. Jennifer Beck says many of the buses commuters ride on are leased by NJ Transit to the private company whose name appears on the bus.

Beck says once that company takes over, there's little control for commuters.

The report says the senator has proposed five bills constituting a bus riders bill of rights that would require private carriers address issues concerning bus scheduling, cleanliness and customer service.
