SOMERVILLE - A woman in Nevada got the shock of her life when she went to change her name and found out she is the victim of a kidnapping that happened 26 years ago.
Police say Eva Marie Fielder, 31, applied to have her name legally changed at a Nevada courthouse to Melissa Reed before her wedding. Years of concealment unraveled when her application went through a database. Before the day was over, Eva Marie's mother, Nancy Fielder, 57, was arrested at her home in Nevada.
Authorities say she identified herself as Debbie Reed before admitting who she really was, the mother of a little girl who disappeared from New Jersey in 1984.
Nancy Fiedler is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
