NJ drivers to get new licenses

EDISON - The next time New Jersey drivers renew their licenses, they will be getting a new version. The licenses won't look much different than the current ones, but it may make a difference to criminals attempting to make fake IDs.

Department of Motor Vehicle offices have been upgrading computers to make the new licenses, causing delays and snafus for the past few weeks.

As of today, officials say the technology is ready for new and renewed licenses, something that will affect security checks everywhere, including the Transportation Safety Administration. The state Department of Transportation says the cost, and requirements to get a license or renewal will not change as a result.
