Newton remains under boil water advisory

NEWTON - Residents in Newton remain under a boil water advisory as water pressure is restored across the town.

The town advises residents to bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before using for consumption, drinking, ice cubes, washing vegetables and fruit, and for brushing teeth.

Town water officials are currently in the process of testing water at eight locations throughout Newton.

Potable water trucks will remain located at Firehouse 1 on Mill Street and Lower Spring Street near Camp Iliff until 8 p.m., at which time one water buffalo for potable water will be moved to Central Plaza.

Town officials say crews worked late last night to repair the section of pipe that caused the entire town to lose water pressure.
