NORTH BRUNSWICK - News 12 New Jersey was invited to visit the Middlesex County Correctional Facility in North Brunswick, where Dharun Ravi will be spending his 30-day sentence.
According to jail officials, Ravi will likely only serve 20 days behind bars, due to 10 days off for good behavior and work compensation. The jail's mental health director says the experience always has an impact on first-time offenders and recommended Ravi use his time to reflect on what brought him there.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is currently appealing Ravi?s sentence, calling it too lenient.
Ravi, a former Rutgers student, was found guilty of bias intimidation for using his webcam to spy on his roommate Tyler Clementi's encounter with another man. Clementi killed himself shortly after the spying incident.
