JERSEY CITY - The Newport section of Jersey City has received a new state-of-the-art park to enjoy after a year of construction.

The 4-acre park begins on 14th Street and stretches to Washington Boulevard. The park begins at the waterfront, where there is a small sand beach with views of New York City. The park also comes complete with a water park, playground equipment and plenty of open space.

The park is privately owned by the LeFrak Organization, a real estate company that has had a big hand in developing the Newport section over the last 25 years.

The park is open to the public, and two private schools in the area are planning on using it on a regular basis.
