JERSEY CITY - A group of children found a newborn baby in a trash bag behind a building in Jersey City Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say three children were playing behind a building on Kennsington Street when they heard a baby crying. After discovering the newborn, the children told the building’s superintendent, who then called police.

News 12 sources say the baby was breathing and moving when police arrived.

The newborn was transported to Jersey City Medical Center. The baby’s condition is not yet known.
