Newark students say they're discriminated against at school

Some students at Newark's East Side High School say their principal wants them out of his school and assigned to an alternative program next year

NEWARK - Some students at Newark's East Side High School say their principal wants them out of his school and assigned to an alternative program next year because they're gay.

The students are now fighting back against what they claim is a pattern of punishment because of who they are.

News 12 New Jersey reached out to the Newark School District for comment. A spokeswoman says there are a number of issues and investigations taking place, but that she can't comment further.

In the meantime, students demonstrated in support of all gay students. They're hoping that support will send a message to their principal.
