NEWARK - Police say a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in a Newark courtyard Wednesday night. The teen is now the 10th fatal shooting in as many days.
None of the deaths are considered to be linked, however, authorities say the shootings are not random.
Residents say they're fed up and are calling on elected officials to take action.

"Mayor Booker, he wants to parade around this country being the savior, God bless him. But clearly his city and the residents in this city are hurting and he's not around," one resident said of the recent violence.
Neither a suspect nor motive in the most recent death has been released at this time. Two arrests have been made in connection with other recent shootings.
Mayor Cory Booker recently announced a $1 million initiative to help fight Newark's recent crime wave. The money was authorized from the city's budget for police overtime.
Booker is also extending the city's safe summer initiative until next Monday. Police Director Samuel DeMaio says the city is expanding the deployment of tactical forces to target gun violence as well.
