(AP) - Newark's Board of Education is planning tohave different schools share buildings next fall to save money andcreate more options for students.District officials unveiled

NEWARK - (AP) - Newark's Board of Education is planning tohave different schools share buildings next fall to save money andcreate more options for students.

District officials unveiled the plan on Monday and plan topresent it to a school advisory board on Tuesday.

Seven publicly funded charter schools would be located indistrict-owned buildings. The rent would generate some revenue forthe school district.

Four new magnet high schools would also launch in the fall. Thenew schools would be funded in part through the $100 million thatFacebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has promised the district.

As part of a way to make space, 11 other public schools will beinvolved in consolidations.

District officials say the plan would save over $4 million nextyear.
