NEWARK - A Newark man is under arrest in connection with a fatal shooting at a Newark restaurant.

According to police, Mark Melvin, of Newark, has been arrested and charged with the murder of 39-year-old Fuquan Mosley, also of Newark.

The shooting occurred at L.C.'s Place, a breakfast eatery across the street from Westside Park. Two women who claimed to be inside the restaurant at the time of incident say the shooting stemmed from an attempted robbery.

A 42-year-old male who was shot remains in critical condition. An 81-year-old woman working at the restaurant was also shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police got a tip that the suspect took off in a Dodge Magnum. Officers observed a car fitting that description. They stopped the vehicle at Avon Avenue and South 18th Street and arrested Melvin after a foot chase.

Melvin is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
